Hello everyone! My name is Jing Xu, or you can call me Maggie, I come from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located in the northwest of China. Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and other countries border in here. Xinjiang home to more than 13 ethnic groups, Like Uyghur, Kazak people they have their own culture, customs, lifestyle. Blended cultures and beautiful natural scenery make here rich and colorful.
I studied social work as an undergraduate and am currently working towards my master’s in anthropology with a focus in ethnology. I like reading, history, political science, sociology, psychology and anthropology are areas of great interest to me. In the future, I would like to teach in the university and travel the world.
在接下來的2017-2018學年，我將會在Pomona College的Oldenborg 擔任中文語言居民，我會教授中文會話課程, 指導每個工作日在Oldenborg舉辦的中文午餐桌，歡迎你的加入，我們可以一起學習中文和討論一切你對中國感興趣的話題。我同樣也會組織許多與中國相關的文化活動，屆時，歡迎諸位的參與。
I work as a Chinese Language Resident at Oldenborg Center (Pomona College) in the 2017-2018 academic year. I teach the Conversation classes at Oldenborg and I’ll be at the Chinese language tables of the Oldenborg dining hall every lunch! Since I’ll already have food on my plate, don’t worry that I might bite you! Feel free to join us. Practice your Chinese, and discuss with me everything you are interested in in China. And I also organize some activities, events and study breaks that are related to Chinese culture. If you want to feel China, welcome to attend!
